Losing and Gaining Ground

1.23.2009

I've tried the diets out there...faced with
increasing blood sugar levels and triglyceride
levels it was hard to know what to eat.

Do I stay away from the high glycemic stuff
or the high fat stuff?

Well, the doc said if I could lose 10 pounds
my blood sugar might stabilize. 10 pounds.
Didn't sound too hard.

I lost 16 and my blood sugar is back to normal.

Now to work on the rest of it.

One of my problems is that I could easily live
on Cheeseburgers. I think I really could. Another
problem is that my brother is sick and now lives
with me. He lost 40+ pound is two months but
absolutely was not trying to.

So here I am, trying to cook foods that I LOVE
to fatten up my brother and cooking foods that
I HAVE to eat in order to keep losing the weight.

It's crazy! It's totally crazy. So I stayed away
from the blog for a while wondering just what to
write.

I had a bowl of oatmeal this morning. Regular
old fashioned oats that require cooking. I've
found that if I add a quarter cup of frozen
blueberries or blackberries, a tablespoon of
crushed walnuts and a little cinnamon, it's
really good. The walnuts give me something
to actually chew on and that helps me to feel
like I've eaten something.

I'm an early riser, and had my breakfast around
6:30 A.M.

My brother got up at 9:30 - the smell of bacon
and eggs was totally distracting and my stomach
started to do that HUNGRY GROWL thing. But I
persevered. Not easy at all I tell you.

I put a slice of Whole Grain Rye bread in the
toaster, drizzled a little Olive Oil on it
and ate it with a glass of water.

Another Food Crises Averted!
